Arctic Vessel Operators Invited to Survey of Data and Instrumentation
The Arctic ocean businesses community is invited to participate in a survey on the current state of data collection efforts and capabilities in the Arctic conducted by the World Ocean Council (WOC).
The WOC is the ocean business community partner of the EU-funded Arctic Research Icebreaker Consortium (ARICE) Project, which will enable scientists to collect more data in the Arctic through two initiatives: coordinating improved use of existing polar research vessels and working with commercial vessels that operate in the Arctic to collect oceanic and atmospheric data.
A first step in better data collection that supports safe and responsible industry activities in the Arctic is to assess the observations that are already conducted onboard vessels, including those obtained for navigational purposes.
Arctic vessel operators are invited to submit information about their ocean and atmospheric observation activities and instrumentation. Access the survey here: ARICE survey.
