Women Offshore Profiles Mother and Daughter Pilot-Mate Team

Women Offshore, an online organization promoting a diverse ocean workforce, reported that, “of the 1.6 million seafarers worldwide, there are approximately 32,000 women sailing the high seas and inland waterways; women making up just 2% of the industry.”

In an article published this month, Women Offshore profiles a mother and daughter, pilot and mate, who encountered each other at work for the first time on an assignment to steer the articulated tug and barge ATB Liberty out of the Houston Ship Channel.
