Floating Tidal Energy Platform in Pre-Deployment Trials
Sustainable Marine Energy (SME) designed a floating tidal energy platform, the PLAT-I, a 32-meter long trimaran-style platform that is 280 kW-rated. Its modular design can be broken down for shipping and re-assembled at an installation site, and a shallow draft configuration permits launch and towing with limited port infrastructure. Targeted for Southeast Asia, the platform is designed for more benign, inshore wave climate sites. Slated for deployment in the Philippines, PLAT-I will be trialed in Connel Sound in Scotland later this year.
