The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation will honor the recipients of this year’s Ocean Awards at a gala during Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW) in June.

Roger and Vicki Sant will be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their work at The Summit Foundation, though which they foster local leadership in conservation  to improve the lives of people and ecosystems, with an emphasis on Mesoamerica.

Suzanne Bonamici (D-Oregon) will be honored with the Leadership Award for being a strong voice in Congress for ocean conservation and restoration, including sustainable fisheries, ocean science, marine debris and pollution prevention, climate change, and ocean acidification.

Kevin Powers will be honored as Volunteer of the Year for his work at Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.

Esri will receive the first-ever Conservation Innovation award for the company’s work in using GIS to better understand and visualize the marine environment.
