The Global Maritime Trends (GMT) Barometer by Lloyd’s Register presents the first-of-its-kind data-driven assessment of the maritime industry’s energy and digital transition progress across five key components: maritime trade, energy, vessels, ports, and people.

On the digital transition front, the GMT Barometer 2025 reveals that the maritime sector is making progress but lags behind land-based industries. The people component of the digital transition remains the least developed and most in need of investment. However, recent advancements have the potential to accelerate progress if integrated effectively within a comprehensive digital strategy.
