Bureau Veritas joins Global Industry Alliance to Support Low-Carbon Shipping

The Future-Ready Shipping Conference 2017, held Sept. 25-26 in Singapore, witnessed the expansion of the GloMEEP Global Industry Alliance (GIA) with two new members: Bureau Veritas and the Port of Rotterdam.
Inspection and certification organization Bureau Veritas joined 15 other members in the Global Industry Alliance (GIA), a public-private partnership that aims to bring together maritime industry leaders to support an energy-efficient and low-carbon maritime transport system.
GIA was created in June 2017 under the GloMEEP (Global Maritime Energy Efficiency Partnerships) Project, which is jointly supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The GIA will support the implementation of energy efficiency measures for ships and shipping by collectively identifying and developing innovative solutions to address common barriers and promote the uptake of energy efficiency technologies and operational measures.
