Used Coffee Capsules Upcycled into Designer Bike

Nespresso has partnered with Swedish lifestyle bike brand Vélosophy to produce a stylish bicycle made from recycled aluminum coffee capsules. The bike is called RE:CYCLE.

Aluminum waste contributes to the growing problem of marine debris around the world.

Aluminum is one of the world’s most valuable resources because it can be remelted and reused infinitely, allowing craftsmen to give waste a second life.

The limited edition Vélosophy RE:CYCLE bike is the result of circular-economy design. Vélosophy has reimagined its classic model in bright purple in a nod to Nespresso’s popular Arpeggio coffee.

1,000 RE:CYCLE bikes were initially made available for purchase at velosophy.cc.

For every bike Vélosophy sells or rents out, another is given to a schoolgirl in Africa to improve her access to education. For every RE:CYCLE bike created by Vélosophy in partnership with Nespresso, another bike will be donated to a girl through World Bicycle Relief.
