3D Laser Scanning Advancement for Ships

Imagine there was a technology that could provide a 3D scan of the interior and exterior of a ship, including its systems, and synchronize that with the data provided by the ship’s own onboard sensors. That’s the breakthrough idea that 3DMSI plans to bring to market, with the support of an £80,000 grant from Marine-i.
The new service uses 3D scan data to model a complete ship, including its systems, and pairs this with information from onboard sensors. Once this total scan package is completed, it can be used by design engineers and shipyards anywhere in the world. This new tech is called “3D AMP.”
The grant will help progress 3D AMP to real-world testing and a full commercial launch next summer.
