Finalist for Build Back Better Regional Challenge: Washington Maritime Blue

Washington Maritime Blue, with 14 regional coalition partners, has been selected as a finalist for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) Build Back Better Regional Challenge. Maritime Blue is an independent, nonprofit organization building the leadership, infrastructure and global connections to scale an equitable and sustainable blue economy. This award furthers its mission to foster thriving communities and a healthy economy and planet. For phase one of the Build Back Better Regional Challenge, the EDA is awarding $30 million in planning grants to its 60 finalists.

R&D Funding for Oceandrone

Scotland-based Innovo Engineering and Construction has secured £10,000 funding from the Energy Technology Partnership (ETP) in conjunction with Strathclyde University, Glasgow, U.K. The funding will support a research and development project for Innovo’s innovative autonomous eco-robotic wind, solar and hydrogen fuel cell-powered surface vessel, Oceandrone.

Germany Funds AUV Development

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is providing €12 million as part of the Maritime Research Program for the development of a novel autonomous submersible robotics system that will enable autonomous monitoring of underwater installations in the deep sea with a significantly reduced carbon footprint, without the need for costly support vessels.
