The government of Vietnam has developed an official marine strategy with the goal of strengthening the country and expanding its maritime economy. Educating ship designers and engineers is a key component of the plan.

To help realize Vietnam’s maritime vision, a training course on SSI’s ShipConstructor software will be held at Vietnam Maritime University, the country’s main facility for training in the maritime field. ShipConstructor is an AutoCAD-based software created for design, engineering and construction of ships and offshore infrastructure. SSI’s local representative Vinashin Engineering and Technology was instrumental in coordinating with the university and will provide advice on implementing the software. —SSI
