Subsea 7’s life-of-field business unit, i-Tech 7, has appointed a new regional director to strengthen the unit in the Asia-Pacific region. Simon Hird has more than 40 years of experience in the subsea oil and gas industry and has worked for major contractors in the construction and life-of-field sectors, including UTEC Survey.

BIRNS Inc. hired Bruce Meredith as its technical sales manager to be responsible for leading the sales team, overseeing global distributor and dealer networks and managing accounts for deep submergence connectors, cable assemblies and high-performance marine and nuclear lighting systems sales. Meredith worked previously at Custom Bilt Metals, Exceptional Solutions Group and Rapid Rack Industries.

The National Ocean Industries Association’s board of directors has elected Richard Clark as chairman and Galen Cobb as vice chairman for the 2019 to 2020 term. Clark is the president of the Gulf of Mexico Business Unit for Kosmos Energy. Cobb is vice president of industry relations for Halliburton.

WFS Technologies appointed Moray Melhuish to the new role of commercial director. Melhuish was previously business development director at ROVOP, where he helped the business from one to more than 50 ROV systems and from six to more than 200 staff within six years.

Dr. Jackie King is the 2019 Stockholm Water Prize Laureate for her contributions to advancing the scientific understanding of water flows, giving decision makers tools to assess the real costs and benefits of river system development. The prize is awarded by SIWI in cooperation with the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
