Advertiser desktop checklist

A COLOR PROOF (CHROMALINE) IS REQUIRED when a color ad is submitted.
WE CANNOT BE
HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR COLOR REPRODUCTION
if a color ad is not accompanied by an appropriate color proof.
When a color
proof is not provided, A $50 PRODUCTION CHARGE
will automatically be assesed for us to pull a color proof.
GENERAL RATE POLICY
Advertisers will be short-rated, if within a 12-month period from
date of first insertion, advertiser does not use amount of space
upon which billings are based. Cancellations are not accepted
after closing dates. Covers sold only on non-cancelable contracts.
All negatives, engravings, electrotypes, copy, etc., may be destroyed
by publisher if not requested within one year after last use.
All orders accepted subject to terms and conditions of current
rate card. Advertisers and advertising agencies jointly and severally
agree to indemnify and save harmless Compass Publications, Inc.,
its officers and employees, from and against any and all losses,
liability and damages, including charges and expenses resulting
or arising from any claim that any content of any advertisement
published for the advertiser infringes on the rights of any individuals,
companies, firms or corporations. Publisher reserves right to
hold advertiser and/or its advertising agency jointly and severally
liable for such monies as are due and payable to publisher. Applicable
Frequency Discount is lost if bill not paid in 30 days.

As Sea Technology is prepared electronically (in QuarkXPress), we request that all ad materials be sent as electronic files. Ads received in film format will be scanned and a scanning charge assessed. Gross rates will apply for ads sent by us.
We operate on a Mac platform. Although we can accept PC files, if a PC font is used that we do not have a matching Mac font for, we will substitute a font. You may choose to convert your text to outlines to eliminate this issue.
All ads, including native files, must be accompanied by our advertising desktop checklist and a color proof where appropriate. We will not be responsible for misprinted ads if we have not received the required documentation and/or proofs.

For Black & White Only
Although we can accept the following, production
charges will be assessed for work-up of any materials that are
not supplied in electronic file form. Accepted in decreasing order
of preference are film negatives or positives; camera-ready finished
art/copy without reduction for line shot only; combination line/halftone
art requiring camera reduction, screens, stripping, paste-up,
etc.; letterpress plates. Mats or stereotypes not accepted.
Production Charges
All extra production operations such as camera work, conversions,
artwork and stripping required for offset printing are billed
to advertiser at prevailing rates. A late charge will be assessed
when materials requiring extra production work are received after
the 20th of the month preceding insertion month. All necessary
repairs to plates received in worn or damaged condition and mechanical
work on plates are billed to advertiser at prevailing rates. All
offset materials and plates are stored for one year after use
without charge and then destroyed unless otherwise specified in
writing by the advertiser or agency. Mechanical alterations
available with a minimum charge of $30.
Paper Stocks
Covers, 100-lb. white, machine-coated offset
stock.
Body sections, 45-lb. white, machine-coated offset stock.
ISSUE AND CLOSING DATES
Published monthly; issued 18th of month. Advertising
orders close 15th of preceding month; ad materials needed by the
20th of preceding month.
SPACE CANCELLATIONS
No space cancellations can be accepted beyond the 15th of the
month preceding insertion date.
