Jeff Bartkowski
Eirik Lie has been named president of Kongsberg Defence Systems. Lie has a background in software engineering and has worked with Kongsberg for more than 26 years. He has been acting in the position since August 2016.

Kraken Sonar Inc. has appointed Jeff Bartkowski as director of business development. Bartkowski has more than 12 years’ experience in the marine technology field and has significant experience in sales and business development, both commercially and with defense.

Nicholas Lum has been named to the Ince & Co.’s Singapore team as a partner in the firm’s shipping and international trade practice group. He will help advise Chinese companies and principals, particularly on the international rights front.

Elbit Systems of America LLC has named Gen. Duncan J. McNabb to the board of directors. McNabb is a former commander of the U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, responsible for all global air, land and sea transportation for the U.S. Department of Defense.

Alfa Laval has named Kristina Effler as business manager for PureBallast. Effler will assist marine customers navigating ballast water treatment alternatives as the industry prepares for the implementation of the IMO BWM Convention’s entry into force September 2017.

Andrew Hazell has joined BlueZone Group as general manager. Hazell brings more than eight years’ experience in extensive operations management, ranging from market analysis, due diligence and acquisitions to commercial safety and quality matters.

The Marine Technology Society (MTS) has named Donna M. Kocak as its new president. Kocak will lead the organization in its mission to promote awareness, understanding and the advancement and application of marine technology. The MTS has also named Dr. Rick W. Spinrad, former NOAA chief scientist, and Craig N. McLean, deputy assistant administrator for programs and administration at NOAA, to its board of directors.

Farlin Halsey has been named president and chief executive officer at Hemisphere GNSS. Halsey brings more than 25 years’ experience in high-technology electronics and senior management capacities. He replaces Xinping Guo, the interim president and chief executive officer.

The Geological Remote Sensing Group (GRSG) of the Geological Society of London has elected Charlotte Bishop as chair. Bishop brings more than 10 years’ experience and is one of the youngest and the first woman to be elected chair in the GRSG’s 27-year history.
