Keel Laid for 19th
US Navy Littoral Combat Ship

The Lockheed Martin-led industry team officially laid the keel for the U.S. Navy’s 19th Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), the future USS St. Louis, in a ceremony held at Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Marinette, Wisconsin. The team is currently in full-rate production of the Freedom-variant of the LCS and has delivered four ships to the U.S. Navy to date.

The future USS St. Louis is one of seven ships in various stages of construction at Fincantieri Marinette Marine, with two more in long-lead production.


Leidos to Provide Technical Expertise
For US Navy Intelligence Enterprise

Leidos was awarded a prime contract by the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) Systems Center Atlantic to provide technical expertise to sustain and update Distributed Common Ground System – Navy (DCGS-N) Family of Systems (FoS).

DCGS-N is the Navy’s shipboard and ashore intelligence enterprise, which provides primary intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and targeting support capability. Afloat or ashore, DCGS-N tools are critical for the operational commander’s battlespace awareness and netcentric operations.

Under the follow-on contract in support of DCGS-N FoS, Leidos will provide technical assessment and evaluation, program definition, organization and direction, including the development of long- and short-range plans. This includes the responsibility for formulating, guiding and directing the evaluation approach, and defining and negotiating with agency personnel for the necessary resources.


Nobeltec Provides Coastal Surveillance
Solution for Portuguese Navy

The Portuguese government approved the implementation of a coastal surveillance system along strategic islands such as the Azores and Madeira. SEATEC, a Portuguese company specializing in marine solutions, turned to Nobeltec’s TZ Coastal Monitoring to provide this solution for the Portuguese Navy. Through continuous development, the installation now counts a dozen stations deployed.

The Nobeltec TIMEZERO team provides technical support for the configuration and integration of these tools, as well as on-site training.



Raytheon’s Variable Depth Sonar
For Littoral Combat Ships

The U.S. Navy has selected Raytheon Co. to provide the new Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) for the Littoral Combat Ship class. A mission-critical anti-submarine warfare asset, the VDS will be deployed from LCS to locate and track enemy submarines.

This ship-deployed sonar system design, identical for both LCS variants, features reduced weight to minimize ship impact and increased maneuverability, and it provides the opportunity for increased war-fighting payloads.

These features were validated by the fleet sailors who operated the system at a full-scale demonstration at Florida Atlantic University’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute in August 2016.


2G Robotics Solutions for
HUGIN AUVs for Norway Navy

2G Robotics has been selected to supply AUV-based laser scanning, stills imaging and illumination solutions for Kongsberg’s HUGIN AUVs to be delivered to the Royal Norwegian Navy. As part of this relationship, 2G Robotics will be involved in an upcoming mine countermeasure project.

2G Robotics will be supplying the ULS-500 PRO dynamic underwater laser scanner, SeaShot Imager Stills Camera and SeaShot LED Panel.

2G Robotics’ dynamic underwater laser scanning solution will be integrated into four HUGIN AUV systems and will assist with the detection, classification and assessment of mines by combining accuracy with real-time data acquisition.


Troll Supplies Antennas for Australian Navy Frigates
Troll Systems supplied dual-polarized omnidirectional antennas to the Royal Australian Navy that were specifically designed to be deployed on Anzac-class frigates.

Each antenna comprises two elements, a vertically polarized coaxial sleeve dipole and a horizontally polarized turnstile slot. Both elements are combined in a marine-qualified solid enclosure that is tested to Mil-S-901D.

Each enclosure is also engineered to meet an IP65 standard that guarantees optimum survivability even in the most demanding marine environments.
