Smit Lamnalco, Rotterdam, Netherlands, finalized an agreement to install KVH’s maritime solution on its offshore vessels. There is potential for KVH to deliver and install its maritime solution on up to 100 Smit Lamnalco offshore vessels over the next few years, and 20 have already been delivered. KVH Industries Inc.

Sonardyne Asia Pte. Ltd., Singapore, was selected to help navigate a new AUV being developed by a joint-research program in Thailand. Thordon Bearings’, Burlington, Canada, Jacksonville, Florida-based distributor Coppedge Marine Inc. has secured an order for the COMPAC seawater-lubricated propeller shaft bearing system for two 300-TEU box ships under construction in China. Tropical Shipping.

BOURBON, Paris, France, has signed a strategic agreement of collaborative development on connected and autonomous vessels. Joint projects will develop new ways of efficient operations in the offshore services industry and implement technical and digital solutions to improve safety and optimize operations. Ocean Infinity, Robert, Louisiana, has purchased two USVs as auxiliary rapid response vehicles in an already comprehensive seabed exploration system. The USVs are being designed with a broad selection of sensors. ASV Global.

Kraken Sonar Systems Inc., St. John’s, Canada, has been awarded a repeat contract by a European defense contractor to supply and integrate its AquaPix Miniature Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Sonar and Real-Time SAS Signal Processor on the customer’s AUV. Undisclosed.

ABB, Zurich, Switzerland, will modernize 10 out of 14 medium icebreakers and high-endurance multitask ships to extend operational life of the vessels by another 20 years. These ships undertake major search and rescue operations and are instrumental in keeping northern Canadian shipping lanes ice free. Canadian Coast Guard.

OSIL, Havant, England, has awarded approved partner status to Nortek. OSIL has produced and installed hundreds of systems that integrate Nortek equipment. The approved partner status is a natural evolution of this long-standing collaboration. Nortek AS.

Cobham SATCOM, Wimborne, England, has been chosen for VSAT and satellite TV (TVRO) antennas in addition to radio communication equipment for installation on six new offshore support vessels. Companhia Brasileira de Offshore.

UTEC, Aberdeen, Scotland, has been awarded a contract to support subsea construction for the Zohr Field Development Project. UTEC will bring its experience with AUVs. Saipem.

Wärtsilä, Helsinki, Finland, signed an agreement to install a hybrid system with batteries on board the vessel Viking Princess. It will become the first offshore supply vessel in which batteries reduce the number of generators on board. Eidesvik Offshore.
