KVH Industries Inc. has promoted Brent Bruun to chief operating officer. In this position, Bruun will assume responsibility for KVH’s corporate development, as well as operational responsibility for mobile communications products and services for maritime and land markets.

Dave Brown has joined Volvo Penta as director of commercial marine sales. Brown has more than 17 years' experience in business development as well as sales. He will provide strategic and administrative direction and leadership to support overall segment growth.

EV has announced the appointment of Fraser Louden as chief executive officer. Louden brings more than 28 years’ experience within a range of oil and gas companies—including 17 years with Schlumberger—in global management and leadership posts.

SSI’s Director Patrick Roberts has been elected vice chair of the New Shipbuilding Research Program (NSRP) Business Technologies Panel. Since 1998, Roberts has worked on many projects to help reduce the U.S. Navy life cycle and acquisition costs.

Dylan Lynch has been promoted to customer service manager at EdgeTech. Lynch has worked with EdgeTech for seven years and holds an ocean engineering degree. In addition, Adam Lipper has joined EdgeTech as a customer service engineer. Lipper has more than 10 years in the industry helping customers with acoustic communication and related underwater equipment.

Phoenix International Holdings Inc. has named James Donnelly to their business development team to further develop business opportunities and strengthen their worldwide presence with clients for the commercial oil and gas division. Donnelly comes with more than 40 years’ experience in the industry.

Joe Kane was named director of operations and manufacturing at Klein Marine Systems Inc. Kane brings a broad range of manufacturing leadership experience. He will be responsible for supply chain management, manufacturing and customer service for Klein’s side scan sonar, bathymetry products and maritime security and surveillance systems.

John Grainger of Fugro has been appointed a director of the British Drilling Association (BDA). He will serve as one of two directors responsible for the overall strategic management of the association, representing drilling contractors and specialists in the U.K. geotechnical and ground investigation industry. Neil Breach and Paul McMann, also of Fugro, were co-opted to BDA roles on the safety subcommittee and the training and education subcommittee, respectively. Meanwhile, Fugro’s Dr. Chris Coleman was elected to the Engineering Group of The Geological Society.
