CGG Agrees to Sell
Multi-Physics Business

CGG has announced that it has entered a binding agreement with NEOS for the sale of its Multi-Physics Business Line encompassing gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic and radiometric surveys with an advanced range of airborne fixed-wing and helicopter systems. This also includes the General Geophysics Italy business specializing in high-end land EM processing and imaging.

New Alfa Laval HCO Filter
Approved For Validation Testing

A major manufacturer of two-stroke engines has agreed to validation tests of an Alfa Laval hydraulic control oil (HCO) filter based on new technology. The approval comes after a successful concept testing on the crude oil tanker Stena Suède.

The filters final design will be evaluated in three installations, each put through 3,000 hr. of testing following 14,000 hr. of concept testing aboard the Stena Suède.

SENER, ESI Group to Market
Virtual Reality Solution

ESI Group has joined efforts with SENER with the aim of marketing and integrating their respective solutions IC.IDO and Foran. The integration is expected to address the shipbuilding industry’s evolving trend of distributing the engineering work of vessels across different companies, and creating designs for effective ships.

IC.IDO will allow real-time physical simulation and an immersive user interface after being integrated with Foran. The ability of the product to simulate movements, collisions and human models will make it possible to verify the entire assembly line as well as the whole manufacturing and maintenance process.

LUKOIL Marine Lubricants
Launches Additional Barge

LUKOIL Marine Lubricants has recently launched an additional supply barge named LUKOIL Marine. The barge is 45 m long with a capacity of 800 dwt. It becomes the third in a fleet of barges that includes Transwift and Marine Success.

Sonardyne SensorView Reduces
Nonproductive Rig Time at Ichthys

SensorView software has helped enable acoustic data to be streamlined in real time from subsea structures as they are installed and has reduced nonproduction time for independent oil and gas producer INPEX and its survey contractor Neptune Geomatics during construction of the Ichthys gas field offshore western Australia.

At each of the five drill centers, Neptune installed a seabed array of Sonardyne Compatt 6 Long Baseline acoustic transponders to accurately position the spud locations and monitor the installation of the Drilling Guide Bases.

3sun Group Creates Jobs
With Launch of Hull Base

3sun Group recently opened a new base in Hull, England, which will aim to provide up to 50 jobs locally. The Group will provide specialized training to the new employees at their Hull base through in-house training provider 3sun Academy.

“We are committed to employing and developing a local workforce, and our core electrical/mechanical technician roles will require the expertise of those who live in close proximity to Hull,” said 3sun Group CEO Graham Hacon.

Hawaiki Submarine Cable to Boost
Performance for AWS Cloud

Hawaiki recently announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has purchased a capacity in the Hawaiki Submarine Cable to speed performance and reduce latency for their cloud customers operating between Australia/New Zealand and the U.S.

The Hawaiki Submarine Cable, due to go live June 2018, will be the fastest and largest link between the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand.

Hydro Group Announces Five
Agreements For Asia Pacific Growth

Hydro Group has agreed to continue strategic growth in the Asia Pacific region. The five new business partner agreements include Uni-One in Taiwan, ISL in China, Oceanpixel in the Philippines, PT Indonesia in Indonesia and DKHG in Vietnam.

These agreements will aid Hydro Group’s cabling interconnect solutions’ presence in these markets.

MSI Completes First Year of
Measurements For McDermott Australia

Metocean Services International has recently completed the first annual service of McDermott Australia Pty Ltd.’s AXYS WatchMate current and wave buoy. The buoy is installed in 270 m of water in the Ichthys field.

The WatchMate Buoy is a solar powered precision instrument incorporating advanced technologies that make it an easy to use, reliable and rugged buoy for accurate measurement of directional waves. The project is expected to last three years.

Milaha, DSV Sign Agreement
For Logistics Services

Milaha and DSV have signed an agreement where Milaha will become the exclusive agent for DSV in Qatar. The agreement expands Milaha’s presence on the global logistics scene and will provide access to more than 1,000 offices, terminals and warehouse facilities in more than 80 countries.

Pageo Utama Extends Survey Services
Pageo Utama of Jakarta has expanded its range of services with the establishment of an in-house fleet of 12 work-class ROVs operating under the new subsidiary in Singapore, Pageo SubOcean Pte. Ltd.

All ROVs are fitted with state-of-the-art manipulators and sensors and can be configured in either TMS or free-swim mode.

Jeppesen Partners
With Navarino

Jeppesen has entered into a partnership with Navarino to create a unique platform for chart data delivery via satellite. This is the first step in a long-term collaboration focused on strengthening their digital navigation and operations and maritime satellite communications offerings.

The partnership will help ship operators comply with the ECDIS mandate requiring certain vessels to be equipped with up-to-date ENCs by 2018.

Bernhard Schulte, BSM to
Tackle 24 Peaks Challenge

Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) is joining their parent company Bernhard Schulte to participate in this year’s 24 Peaks Challenge for Seafarers in the U.K. The Schulte Group will be entering six teams, comprising of 30 total participants from sea and shore personnel.

This will be the third consecutive year participating for the Schulte Group. Teams will climb 24 peaks across Lake District, coverign a distance of 31 mi. in just 24 hr.

Acquisition Increases MacArtney
Presence in German Market

MBT GmbH, MacArtney Germany, has acquired Breman-based CPU GmbH. MacArtney expanded their business to strengthen their system sales capacity. CPU GmbH will relocate to the Innovation and Technology Center of the University of Bremen. MBT GmbH, as part of the MacArtney Group, enjoys unlimited access to cutting-edge engineering and advanced facilities in Denmark.

DAN Europe, Ocean Maps
Join to Improve Diver Safety

The Divers Alert Network (DAN) and Ocean Maps recently launched “Plan & Dive Weeks” from May 1 to June 30. “Plan & Dive” were aimed to raise awareness for the importance of thorough preparations for dives. Ocean Maps provided interactive simulations of popular dive spots helping divers to accustom to the specifics of a dive site.

DAN members were granted three free interactive 3D dive maps of the Red Sea Scuba Maps including famous diving spot “Big Brother” to encourage detailed planning and briefing before diving.

AAL Boosts Chinese Operations
AAL is prepared to strengthen its presence in China with the appointment of specialist project and steel cargo freight forwarder Central Oceans as commercial agent for Hong Kong and South China.

“Central Oceans took the decision a decade ago to specialize in this very tough sector and has been at the forefront,” said Wolfgang Harris, deputy managing director, AAL.
