SBG Systems Appoints Swathe Services
As Official UK, Ireland Distributor

SBG Systems has appointed Swathe Services to be an authorized sales and support distributor for the marine hydrography market in the U.K. and Ireland. This includes all products within the Ellipse, Ekinox and Apogee product lines, including the Split-Box.

SevenCs Supports MariGreen Project
SevenCs announces its participation in the cross-border project MariGreen to support the maritime industry in the transition towards more efficient, greener and more sustainable shipping.

The MariGreen project develops innovations for greener and low-emission shipping and supports, in particular, small and medium enterprises. There are 12 innovation projects behind MariGreen that are dealt with by a total of 59 partners located in the Netherlands and Germany.

CEE HydroSystems Adds
New European Distributor

CEE HydroSystems has entered into a new 2016 distributor agreement with marine and land survey specialist Geometius b.v. As a Trimble dealer, Geometius now offers CEE HydroSystems’ survey-grade echosounders along with their positioning solutions.

To support Geometius and other Trimble dealers also supplying CEE echosounders, the company will shortly release the first CEESCOPE “all in one” echosounder system to feature integrated Trimble GNSS receivers.

Global Marine Completes Work
On ASE Cable System Project

Global Marine Systems Ltd. has completed operations and has installed approximately 380 km of OCC SC500 fiber-optic cable between the Japanese island of Okinawa and an existing branching unit (BU) in the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE) system. This extension of the 7,200-km intra-Asia cable system, which was completed in 2012, connects Japan to the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Dubai Maritime Club

The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has committed its full support for the Dubai Maritime Club, a not-for-profit initiative aimed at nurturing a dynamic network of maritime professionals. Launched in collaboration with DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center), the Club will facilitate regular meetings for members irrespective of the location of their activity, with the main purpose of sharing knowledge and expertise and providing a platform for productive dialog geared toward improving the industry.

SALT Acquires Tritech AquaTrak CVL
Sea and Land Technologies (SALT) has purchased the Tritech AquaTrak Correlation Velocity Log (CVL) to enhance their rental pool. The AquaTrak CVL offers the benefits of a 300 kHz and the accuracy of a 1,200 kHz and is available with the same connector and flange interface as found on most 600-kHz Doppler velocity logs (DVLs).

The single vertical beam permits installation of the AquaTrak CVL safely above the bottom of an ROV for protection to provide the same high level of performance, irrespective of altitude and with a range of 0.5 m to 300 m.

Irish Coast Guard, CHC Perform More
Than 1,000 SAR Missions in 2015

The Irish Coast Guard, in partnership with CHC Helicopter, completed more than 1,000 search and rescue (SAR) missions in 2015 with a fleet of five Sikorsky S-92 helicopters. The milestone is the first time since 1991 that the Irish Coast Guard achieved 1,000 missions in a single year.

CHC and Sikorsky share a close relationship supporting SAR service in Ireland since 2005, initially with a fleet of six S-61N all-weather SAR helicopters.

Unique Group Adds Long-Range
Profiling Instrument Signature55

Unique Group has added Nortek’s long-range profiling instrument Signature55 to its global lease pool. The instrument has been acquired to give oil and gas customers flexible access to long-range profiling capability.

The Signature55 was chosen because of its ability to provide ocean current profiling over a range of 1,000 m. Another decisive factor was that it works well for high-quality current measurements with fine vertical resolution (5-m cells).

MacArtney Brings Unique
Characterization System to the US

MacArtney has announced a partnership with dotOcean for the U.S. markets. The agreement consolidates MacArtney’s strong position and provides customer access to the extensive range of dotOcean sediment and soil measurement products.

The products in this partnership include the GraviProbe, a free-fall impact instrument; the DensX, an in-situ, direct measurement mud density method that uses x-ray technology; and the iCone, a manual profiler that analyzes underwater soil layers in small waterways and rivers.

Applied Acoustics Picks Up
Contract Down Under

Western Advance Pty. Ltd., the exclusive distributor for Applied Acoustic Engineering (AAE) in Australia, has recently completed a contract for the supply of one of AAE’s Nexus USBL systems to Neptune Marine Services headquartered in Perth, Washington.

The provision of this system marks the 450th USBL system that AAE has supplied to the subsea industry.

DNV GL Approves First Vessel to
Comply With IMO Polar Code

After a successful survey, DNV GL and the Danish Maritime Authority confirm that the AHTS Magne Viking, owned by Viking Supply Ships, is in compliance with the new IMO Polar Code. Viking Supply Ships saw the value in the IMO Polar Code based on long experience from Arctic operations in low temperatures and ice-covered waters. The process included updating the vessel and equipment, as well as providing documentation.

Rebranded Marlink Adopts New Identity
The commercial satellite communication division of Airbus Defence and Space has been rebranded as Marlink. With a new identity, Marlink will pioneer highly reliable, flexible and future-proof business critical communication solutions for maritime and land customers through its established direct and indirect sales channels. It will deploy a segment-based approach, ensuring expert focus, best-fit connectivity technology and solutions for its maritime customers, from shipping to yachting and fishing.

Cargotec Aquires INTERSCHALT
Software Company

Cargotec has completed the acquisition of INTERSCHALT maritime systems AG. This strengthens Cargotec’s and Kalmar’s and MacGregor’s software strategy and complements Cargotec’s strategic aim to be the leader in intelligent cargo handling. Cargotec will consolidate the results of the INTERSCHALT software business into Kalmar business area results and the results of INTERSCHALT services into the MacGregor business area.

SeeByte, ASV Form Partnership
SeeByte announced a commercial partnership with ASV, through which they will collaborate to bring new advanced capabilities and solutions to the field of maritime autonomy.

This agreement builds upon previous collaborative work to develop the next generation of adaptive autonomy by working together across the fleet of ASV platforms and SeeByte’s software solutions.

Bibby Offshore Develops Collaborative
Approach to Unlock Subsea Productivity

Bibby Offshore has developed an innovative vessel share option for clients, which has the potential to provide the subsea industry with significant savings through encouraging collaboration and cost-efficiencies, as well as providing increased productivity. Unlocking Subsea Productivity (USP) re-evaluates the traditional subsea campaign model, proposing a new alternative structure for how Bibby Offshore delivers services to clients. The concept focuses on a vessel share agreement, with collaboration from several clients, to deliver a single linked campaign workscope that addresses each client’s individual demands.

Alfa Laval Test and Training
Centre to Expand

The Alfa Laval Test and Training Centre in Aalborg, Denmark, will soon be expanded to five times its current size. This development, focused on LNG and other alternative fuels, will address new challenges and possibilities for marine customers as they strive to meet environmental and energy targets. The expansion will create the world’s most advanced test center for environmental and combustion technology—regardless of fuel type.
